Get Involved with One Heart Bulgaria!

One Heart Bulgaria has been successful thanks to the generosity of hundreds of individuals who have donated time, money, expertise, and hard work to help support our programs. We are a 501c3 registered charity, which means that all donations are tax-deductible.

There are many ways to give. You may send a general donation to be placed where One Heart Bulgaria sees the greatest need, or you can direct your contribution to a specific program:

° Sponsor an Orphanage
° Fund a Special Project
° Support the Training Program
° Volunteer with One Heart Bulgaria
All financial donations to One Heart Bulgaria should be sent to

Fund a Special Project
Many orphanages have needs that exceed the scope of our sponsorship program. These projects range from small requests for funding for summer camp to more complex requests for help in major renovations. Often the projects focus on educational opportunities or ask for help in solving for specific medical problems.

Other special projects include:

It's easy to help:

  1. Visit Our Orphanages for detailed information about each orphanage's specific project needs, or see a listing of all available special projects (list under development).
  2. Contact our project coordinator, Deborah Dushku Gardner, to arrange donation details. (Email: deborah@oneheart-bg.org.)
  3. Make your contribution and see the benefit to the children.

Support the Training Program
The orphanage workers in Bulgaria are the closest things to parents that the orphans have, but they often lack the knowledge, skills and resources to do their jobs well. You can help to give them these tools through One Heart Bulgaria’s Training Program. Become a surrogate parent for these children by supporting their primary caregivers. Contact our training director,
Saren Looslie, to contribute to the training program.

If you are looking for a fun project for your family, youth group, or civic club, One Heart Bulgaria would be happy to provide you with opportunities to serve!

  • One Heart Bulgaria Internships
One Heart Bulgaria is developing an internship program for interested people to support our efforts in Bulgaria. For individuals who have the opportunity, an internship will provide valuable experience working in th non-profit and humanitarian-aid environment. It will also be a unique chance to directly touch the lives of the children through management and implementation of our programs. To learn more about internship opportunities, contact our Internship Director
    Chelsea Eyre.

  • Board of Advisors
We are always happy to receive feedback and ideas from experts in our field! If you have administrative experience, fundraising experience, or marketing know-how, please feel free to give us a call. We’d love to hear from you! (Contact Deborah Dushku.)

  • Fundraising Team
Beginning in 2005, One Heart Bulgaria will participate in a spring and a fall fundraiser with Dutch Mill Bulbs. We need to recruit volunteers to be our team leaders. If you are interested in a fun and rewarding fundraising experience, please contact our fundraising leader, Brittany Daw.
